Emmett Technique – The Chameleon Approach to Body Therapy

What is the Emmett Technique?

The Emmett Technique is a safe, simple to apply body therapy that was created by Ross Emmett. Emmett Therapy acts as a first aid to release muscle related issues using the application of light touch at specific points.

About the Emmett Points:

Unique, micro points, that may have been activated through overuse, stress or trauma. They can cause the surrounding muscles to tighten causing pain and restricting movement. Emmett points are known to reset this muscle action returning the muscle memory to a more harmonious state.

These unique points are located throughout the body and specific light pressure points or moves allow the brain the opportunity to re-check and recalibrate the muscle groups if necessary.

How does it work?

The principles of the technique are based on light touch at specific points to create change in selected muscle groups by reactivating the muscle memory. The application of the technique can trigger a relaxation response in the soft tissues of the body to be able to relieve tension and pain, ease discomfort, and improve range of motion, leading to an improved healthy life.

The therapist utilises a relatively light touch to bring about change and reset the muscles being worked on, either holding one or two points at the same time or “switching” across muscle or tendon fibres.

These gentle touches can enable a gentle release for many common conditions. The results can be dramatic and profound even for first time clients. Fast and accurate assessments of imbalances in the body are an integral feature of Emmett Therapy. Emmett Therapy is safe and effective to practice on any individual, from pregnant women to newborn children and to the elderly.

The pressure required is not heavy or painful. “No pain no gain” has NO place in the Emmett’s therapist’s approach.

Emmett Therapy is an extremely effective stand-alone therapy and is a truly complementary therapy that combines easily with a range of different modalities, for example, Chiropractic, Massage, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and more.

What is the Lymphatic System?

The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs that work together to help rid the body of toxins, waste, and other unwanted materials. The primary function of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body.

The Lymphatic system has three main functions:

It maintains the balance of fluid between the blood and tissues, known as fluid homeostasis
It forms part of the body’s immune system and help defend against bacteria and other intruders
If facilitates absorption of fats and fat-soluble nutrients in the digestive system
Did you know…

The lymph fluid only travels one way around the body, and it does not have a heart to pump it, so its movement depends on the motions of the muscles, joint pumps and respiratory motions to facilitate the flow of lymph through the lymph vessels.
